As with all charities, fundraising plays a vital role. It provides the finance to run the organisation, to support the person with the illness/disability, to provide and finance services within the community, and to research new treatments and even possibly in some cases, to find a cure.

My husband and I, like many families of a PWCF, fundraise on behalf of the Charity. We have organised 2 golf classics, worked with a school in organising a fun day which raised a €1000, held coffee mornings etc. But of all the fundraising ideas we have had, my favourite one is our Hannah Bear. This is a gold coloured teddy bear that comes with her own cream-coloured velour t-shirt. The top has the CF logo embroidered on the back of it and the person’s name on the front.  The embroidery is done by my sister-in-law Mary. She produces a variety of products that range from clocks, picture frames, memorabilia and clothing. All of these items can be personalised with embroidered details and logos etc to mark any special occasion, thus making the gift truly personal. She has recently branched out into printing photo quality ink jet printed t-shirts. Hannahbear costs €40 plus €5 p+p., with €20 going directly to the charity.  She comes with a list of facts about CF, a birth cert and a personalised letter from Hannah. As a result of Hannah's website, we have decided to launch Hannah's own bag. (Hopefully the first of many!) It is a cotton tote shopper with the logos & the name of the site printed on it. It is very sturdy, holds a lot & can even be washed! The designs are printed into the fabric, thereby ensuring that they don't wear off, but naturally fade with time & usage etc. We are intending to sell these for €10 each. Due to the fact that it has just been launched, the amount of money going to CF is only €3 as the unit cost of the bag is high. Mary, Hannah & Michael's aunt, is printing these free of charge also. (She has recently expanded her embroidery business into printing also.) So currently, I am looking for a sponsor to purchase the bags, thereby ensuring that all the €10 will go the CF.
